New sections of the site were unlocked today. The Foodwagon section is now finished and adds a collection of links to this forum.

The Fantasia Campfire section has also been unlocked. This is about the characters in Maddigan's Quest and gives a picture, some info and a video montage for each of the Fantasia members.

Enjoy!
Dec 20th 2005
Yves Truck was unlocked today.

This section of the site includes two Lilith music videos, a section on the cast, a Behind The Scenes video (both streaming and downloadable) and a picture gallery of stills from the show.

Enjoy!

Goneril's Caravan is now up and running - thanks to the hard working web-people at Satellite Media.

This section contains video clips of Eden's magic, information about the technology of the worlds of Maddigan's Quest, an interview with Production Designer Gary MacKay and the opportunity to ask any questions you may have about the show.
Dec 23rd 2005
The final section of the site (Maddie's Caravan) is now unlocked. Just in time for Christmas.

This section includes sections on the Cultures of MQ, the cities of MQ, Garland's diary and the Fantasia quest, and a section on costume design featuring a video interview with Tracey Collins.

Merry Christmas, everyone!

Feb 7th 2006
Congratulations indeed - it's amazing that just months after filming, awards are being won. Lets hope the BBC find out about this...
Feb 7th 2006
Fabulous news. Congratulations
......and well deserved too

the BBC will know about it ....won't they?...

'Maddigan's Fantasia', Margaret Mahy's novelisation of the TV series, has just been shortlisted for the Junior Fiction category in the 10th Annual NZ Post Book Awards, announced yesterday.

The CBBC have created a linking page on the CBBC website. Traffic to this site literally has doubled overnight!

Maddigan's Quest begins screening in New Zealand on TV3 at 7pm tonight, and weekly from then on. TV3 are also transmitting the Behind the Scenes doco at 9am tomorrow morning.

We will be podcasting ep 1 in three parts after the TV3 screening. The ep will also be available in streaming form from this site.

There is a special cast and crew screening tomorrow morning, where people get to watch five episodes projected on the big screen in full HD glory!
Feb 11th 2006
Aww, I would probably kill to see that...
Feb 11th 2006
I've just checked out the link from CBBC - it's in the shows section, and links straight to the .com site.

Don't know if this is a problem, but I linked from CBBC to the MQ site, clicked on the foodwagon, and found a working link to these forums - I thought that was disabled.
Feb 11th 2006
It was supposed to be. CBBC have seemingly used the wrong URL for the link.
Feb 11th 2006
Hehe, now that's actually quite ammusing...
Feb 11th 2006
At last ... a link from CBBC and with the four episodes to go.

'Better late than never' springs to mind.

It's so good to hear from some New Zealand friends that the network there is showing promos.

The BBC do give warnings on the link about not being responsible for anyone leaving their site.
Feb 11th 2006
They give that with all their external links, though - even for adult shows, I think.
Feb 15th 2006
CBBC have got the ...quest.com/cbbc link up now, and the Foodwagon is totally disabled (links and all). At least the site traffic has improved considerably - the BBC surely cannot fail to commission a second series now.

If it was on 'reaction', I'd say the reaction was good!
Feb 15th 2006
I hope so. It's hard to tell. Are we looking at a groundswell of support or a rabidly obsessive minority.
Feb 16th 2006
Fair point - the type of audience this programme is aimed at probably are the type that are very interested in the internet. Let's hope that's just coincidence...
Feb 18th 2006
I have been banned
Will there b anymore parts of the site to open or is tht it!!......will there b more images of the episodes as they are screened in NZ and Australia??
Feb 18th 2006
I'll try to keep feeding the site with tidbits.

There are 3 more sections worth of content. The issue is one of budget at this stage. we'll have to see how things go.
Feb 18th 2006
I have been banned
cool....
Feb 20th 2006
I've added some photos - concept drawings, matte paintings and some behind the scenes stills - to my photocast. You can access the photocast via the podcast button on the entry page. You'll need an RSS reader of some sort or the latest version of iPhoto.

I'll also put some photos up on a website this evening. and put the link here.
Feb 20th 2006
New Maddigan's Photos now up for your enjoyment. They can be found at:

http://web.mac.com/pookina1/iWeb/7194C30C-D32B-4DD0-92D1-1D49DBABAB3D/Photos.html

Sorry about the long-winded URL - it's the way iWeb seems to work!

Enjoy!
Feb 20th 2006
I did.... thank you Maddigan these are really good. !

Can you tell me how to get one of those icons attached to my moniker that all of you guys seem to have?
Feb 20th 2006
I think Kitty is the expert - it's tricky. You have to reduce the photo you want to 32x32 pixels, publish the photo on a website, then paste the URL of the photo into the field under your account settings.

Have I made sense?
Feb 20th 2006
um...I think I can work that out thanks
Feb 21st 2006
Glad to see you've got it working now. :) A lot of people have been having trouble with it though - I shall have to think about setting up some external hosting for my icons, so they don't have to be individually uploaded by every single person who wants to use one... They're more popular than I was expecting. XD;

A rather sniffy review of the show from this morning's NZ Herald:

Feb 27th 2006
hmm, it's ok, least they do point out some of the good sides of the show. they're wrong though, it's not just ok, it rocks!
Feb 27th 2006 edited
I have to say this bit made me laugh: "it is intriguing to see the teenage girl fashion for the bare midriff has - like the cockroaches, presumably - come through the apocalypse unscathed". It sounds like something someone's mother might write.

It's a pretty well-written review (if a little snooty), and I wouldn't agree with most of the points she makes. At least it's some positive coverage though - she does seem to like the show - which can only be a good thing.
Feb 27th 2006
it is snooty! and perhaps she is someone's mother. i think that the kids who've watched it should write the reviews not someone's stuck up mom.
Feb 27th 2006
Lol, Loved those pictures, especially the rehersal one
Feb 27th 2006 edited
right kath wanted me to put this on even if she's only watched two episodes. (i think she was begging)

Thanks. Ok. Um... you know the discussion in the food wagon (Sticky] News) where you said the thing was snooty. My thing is: Adults are generally wrong anyway. I would put this on but a) I don't have a account and b) I probably wouldn't go on anyway again. Please put this on 'Rianna. Just this once. Please?

see what i mean?

Hi All,

Just thought I'd share the good news that Islander has joined me as a moderator of The Foodwagon. As the forum has taken off in recent days, it's become harder for just one person to moderate - particularly with the 13 hour time difference between NZ and the UK.

So welcome, Islander.
Feb 28th 2006
Well done Islander :D
Feb 28th 2006
yah well done :)

Mar 7th 2006
Sounds great, but where is this? Aukland?

I'd love to come, but it's obviously impossible if it's outside the UK.
Mar 7th 2006
oh, that's so unfair, i wish i could come! :(
Mar 7th 2006 edited
Quick, where can I get cheap plane tickets? And I mean really cheap, like Ryanair cheap.
Mar 8th 2006
Wow, that looks incredible.

I hope they have a couple of signings over here once the book's out later in the year.. I'm not sure Margaret would be up for flying over though. It'd be fantastic if it happened, however.
Mar 8th 2006
That sounds cool, i wish i could go!!
Mar 8th 2006
Aaaahh Cool
Wish I lived in NZ :(
